RIP Lata Mangeshkar : The Maharashtra government has declared a national holiday on February 7 in honor of the death of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar. A two-day “state mourning” will be announced against Lata Mangeshkar, who died on the morning of February 6 from multiple organ failure. She was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, where the singer was undergoing treatment after being tested positive for COVID-19 on January 8, 2022.

In memory of the legendary singer, the central government will reportedly announce a two-day national mourning in memory of Lata Mangeshkar. The national flag will be lowered for two days, in honor, from 6 to 7 February across India. The state funeral of the deceased recipient Bharat Ratna will take place in Shivaji Park on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. Prime Minister Narendra will attend the state funeral. According to reports,

The government of West Bengal reportedly announced a day off at noon on Monday. They also urged the administration over the next 15 days to play the singer’s songs at important crossings across the state.

According to PTI, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said they had organized “25kg of sandalwood for the cremation of Lata Mangeshkar along with other essentials. About 2,000 square feet of parkland have been barricaded for burial. ”

In addition to politicians from Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a state funeral in Mumbai on Sunday.
