The Bombay Excessive Court docket rejected a writ petition filed by Basic Motors India Pvt. Ltd. (GMI) to put aside an order of the Pune Industrial Court docket which had directed the Indian unit of the American auto agency to pay 50% wage to laid-off employees until disposal of the case.

The Basic Motors Workers Union had moved the economic court docket following the retrenchment of 1,086 employees by GMI in July 2021, with out the permission of the Authorities of Maharashtra.

The court docket had in January 2022 ordered that fifty% wage be paid from April 7, 2022 until the ultimate determination of the case.

GMI had challenged this order within the Bombay Excessive Court docket.

“I’ve gone via the impugned order and I don’t discover that it suffers from any infirmity in order to require interference. The Petition is with none advantage and is accordingly dismissed,” the Bombay Excessive Court docket stated within the order.

Following non-payment of wage as per the ourt order, the Workers Union had discipline a legal case in opposition to the corporate administration within the Pune Labour Court docket which is scheduled to be heard on Monday.

A consultant of the administration has been granted bail by this court docket until the subsequent listening to.

In the meantime, GMI’s settlement with China’s Nice Wall Motor Co. (GWM) for the sale of the plant at Talegaon has been cancelled as the corporate couldn’t get all approvals for the switch of the plant. In accordance with worker sources, GMI is in talks with Mahindra and Hyundai to promote the plant.
